Attorney David Fantera of Brighton, MI; ethical troll

The state of Michigan presented David R. Fantera with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.

The Attorney Discipline Board Genesee County Hearing Panel #1 found Davey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Committed professional misconduct by improperly using his IOLTA account as a business account into which he deposited and maintained earned funds
  • Depositing funds into his IOLTA account effectively shielded those funds from federal and state tax authorities and/or other creditors to whom he owed payment
  • Davey held funds other than client or third person funds in an IOLTA
  • Deposited his own funds into an IOLTA in an amount more than reasonably necessary to pay financial institution service charges or fees

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Michigan Supreme Court punished Davey by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license and assessed investigative costs of $800.66.

As we speak (ca. December 2022), Davey practices his so-called brand of law with Moorhead & Moorhead PLLC at 1515 Corunna Avenue in Brighton, Michigan.
