Former Judge Anna Gibbon of Ontario, CAN; ethical troll

The Canadian Judicial Council found Anna guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was employed as a Justice of the Peace in Thunder Bay.

FYI: The overburdened taxpayers in Ontario were required to pay Anna an annual salary of $151,768.44 even though she never attended law school. In fact, in her prior job she worked for Home Depot as a Human Resources Manager.

  • Committed judicial misconduct in relation to proceedings involving her son on a Highway Traffic Act charge
  • Anna’s conduct with respect to her son’s legal proceeding was incompatible with her position as a justice of the peace and compromised the independence, impartiality, and integrity of her judicial office
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed on multiple occasions, to respect the ethical and professional boundaries of her office
  • Failed to act with impartiality, integrity, and independence
  • Undermined public confidence in herself as a judicial officer, and in the administration of justice generally
  • Engaged in numerous inappropriate interactions with multiple justice system participants
  • Refused to acknowledge her misconduct or express genuine remorse
  • Misconduct was particularly egregious
  • Called the prosecutor assigned to her son’s case was clearly inappropriate
  • Anna’s angry outburst directed at the Supervisor of Court Services, Ms. Kontzie, was outrageous
  • Anna’s request that Ms. Kontzie speak with the prosecutor to have the charge against her son dropped was serious misconduct
  • Anna demanded that the prosecutor withdraw or stay the charge against her son was very serious misconduct

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Ontario Court of Appeals ordered that Anna be removed from the bench.

As we speak (ca. January 2023), it is rumored that Anna has applied for a job as a greeter at the Walmart Supercenter Store at 777 Memorial Avenue in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.
