Attorney Kayretha Willis of Los Angeles; serial ignoramus
The state of California presented Kayretha Hale Willis with a law license in 1988 after she graduated from Western State University School of Law.
The California State Bar Court found Kay guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.
-
Intentionally, recklessly, and repeatedly ailed to provide competent representation (ignoramus)
-
Failed to maintain documents provided to her by her client
-
Engaged in conduct involving fraud deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
-
Failed to submit an appropriate and provable accounting to the court in a probate matter as she was hired to do
-
Charged and collected fees of $6,970 and $870 from an estate for services rendered without first obtaining an order of the court authorizing the fee payments in accordance with the California Probate Code
-
Filed accountings and petitions for attorney’s fees, in which she failed to disclose to the court that she had already received the fees from the estate and trustee
-
Kay absolutely knew the accountings and petitions were false and misleading
-
Sought to mislead the judge by an artifice or false statement of fact or law
-
Failed to obey a court order (Screw you, said Kay!)
-
After being terminated, failed to return client file
-
Failed to render accounts of client funds
-
Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Kay!)
As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Kay by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year suspension of her law license.
As we speak (ca. January 2023), Kay practices her so-called brand of law at 611 Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles, California.
