Former Judge Carmen Garza of Santa Fe, NM; ethical troll

The state of California presented Anthony Richard Mallery with a law license in 1986 after she graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law.

In August 2006, the six (6) sitting District Court Judges for the District of New Mexico voted to hire Carmen as a Magistrate Judge.

In late 2022, the sitting District Court Judges for the District of New Mexico voted not to rehire Carmen due to her misconduct as set for the below.

  • Years long conduct led to an abusive hostile work environment in her chambers
  • Engaged in behavior that included manipulating staff to undermine fellow judges and courthouse employees
  • Made derogatory and egregious statements about her judicial colleagues
  • Engaged in retaliatory conduct after the vote against her reappointment
  • Engaged in spewing forth unpredictable and hypercritical outbursts

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the sitting district court judges voted unanimously to not reappoint Carmen as a U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge.

As we speak (ca. November 2022), Carmen practices her so-called brand of law at in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
