Attorney Willie Brooks Jr. of Monroe, NC; ethical troll

The state of North Carolina presented Willie R. Brooks Jr. with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Willie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to conduct reconciliations of his trust account
• Disbursed more funds from his trust account for clients than he had in the trust account for that client
• Willie’s client ledgers contained dates that did not reconcile with bank dates of deposit
• Willie failed to sign, date, and maintain reconciliation reports
• Routinely failed to deposit entrusted funds he received in traffic cases for court costs and fines into his trust account
• Disbursed entrusted funds to himself in purported reimbursement of advanced costs for which there was no substantiation
• Provided financial assistance to numerous clients via improper loans to said clients
• Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Willie!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Willie by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Willie.  

As we speak (ca. November 2022), Willie practices his so-called brand of law at 2311 Princess Kelly Way in Monroe, North Carolina.
