Former Judge Steven Becker of Buhler, KS; ethical troll

The state of Kansas provided Steven Becker with a law license in after he graduated from School of Law.

The Kansas Commission on Judicial Conduct found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was sitting as a Reno County27th District Court judge in Buhler, Kansas

  • Exhibited favorable bias toward litigant (Jane Doe) because he had developed a personal relationship with her
  • Jane Doe first appeared before Stevie on two level 4 drug offense to which she pleaded guilty and was placed on probation for 12 months
  • Over the next two years, Jane Doe appeared before Stevie on more than one occasion regarding probation violations
  • A year later, Jane Doe appeared before Stevie on four misdemeanor counts involving theft and criminal use of a credit card to which she again pleaded guilty, leading Stevie to suspend sentencing her
  • Subsequently, Stevie issued an order, sua sponte (on his own motion) voiding Jane’s costs in her various criminal actions

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the comedians sitting on the Judicial Conduct Commission punished Stevie by issuing him a cease-and-desist order.

In truth the comedians on the Conduct Commission didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Stevie.

As we speak (ca. November 2022), Stevie practices his so-called brand of law at 11309 East 69th Street in Buhler, Kansas.
