Attorney Thurmond Brooker of Florence, SC; ethical gnome

The State of South Carolina presented Thurmond Brooker with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from Capitol University School of Law in Columbus, Ohio.

FYI: Capitol University School of Law is ranked as the 167^th best law school in the country out of 200 ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the South Carolina Supreme Court found Thurmond guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Thurmond!)
• Failed to abide by client decisions
• Failed to notify client of his decision to not file suit on the client’s behalf
• Failure to notify the minors and Mother of his decision not to file suit in their cases denied them the right to make an informed decision regarding the pursuit of their cases because the statute of limitations had expired in both cases by the time Mother learned of Thurmond’s decisions
• Failed to consult with the client about how the clients’ objectives are to be accomplished
• Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
• Improperly provided financial assistance to a client
• Failed to expedite client litigation
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme Court punished Thurmond by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.  

As we speak (ca. August 2022), Thurmond practices his so-called brand of law with the Brooker Law Firm at 238 Warley Street in Florence, South Carolina.
