Attorney Jeanette Jovanovic of Tasmania; ethical misfit

The Law Society of Tasmania provided Jeanette Jovanovic with a law license in 1982 after she graduated from the University of Tasmania School of Law.

The Legal Profession Board of Tasmania found Jean guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in unsatisfactory professional misconduct
  • Failed to obtain a valid Medicare Notice of Past Benefits prior to settlement contrary to her client’s instructions
  • Provided client with verbal advice at mediation that his legal costs would be $17,000 without any explanation that the estimate did not include disbursements or other fees

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Legal Profession Board punished Jean by gifting her with a complimentary caution.

As we speak (ca. June 2022), Jean practices her so-called brand of law at 25 Murray Street in Hobart, Tasmania.
