Attorney Gordon Caplan of New York City; convicted felon

The State of New York presented Gordon Rubin Caplan with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from Fordham University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the First Judicial Department found Gordy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Pled guilty to conspiracy in the e United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in violation, both felonies
  • Gordon was sentenced to one month in jail, one year of supervised release, 250 hours of community service and ordered to pay a fine of $50,000
  • Gordon’s conviction stemmed from his involvement in the widely publicized college admissions bribery and cheating scandal centered on college admissions consultant William ‘Rick’ Singer who helped parents bribe test administrators and/or coaches so their children had a better chance of getting into prominent schools
  • Convicted of serious crimes

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Gordy by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2022), Gordon practices his so-called brand of law in New York, New York.
