Former Judicial Commissioner Joyce Tomlinson of Benton, TN; bullying loser

The state of Tennessee provided Joyce Tomlinson with a law license in 1980 after she graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law.

The Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct found Joyce guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was employed as a Stewart County Judicial Commissioner.

  • While at the Stewart County Sheriff’s Department to consider an arrest warrant, Billy engaged in a tense and angry discussion of a criminal case involving a family member with officers in the room
For more than 30 minutes, Bill questioned and challenged the officers about the facts of her family member’s case
  • Billy demanded to know the name of the officer who was in charge of the investigation of her family member
  • Despite being advised by the supervising officer that it was not proper for her to question the officers, Billy continued to engage in the same conduct
  • During her encounter with the officers, Billy was sarcastic, argumentative, raised her voice, and banged her hands on the table
  • Billy threatened to investigate the officer’s family, dared him to stop her on the street, and taunted him by commenting that was afraid of her even though he had a gun
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to comply with the law (scofflaw)
  • Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
  • Abused the prestige of her judicial office
  • Engaged in personal activities that would appear to a reasonable person to be coercive

With the knowledge that the Tennessee Supreme Court would vote to remove her from office, Billy did what any coward would do, she resigned.

As we speak (ca. March 2022), Joyce practices her so-called brand of law in Benton, Tennessee.
