Former Judge George Barnstone of Houston, TX; dimwitted loser

The state of Texas provided George Barnstone with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law. 

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct found George Barnstone guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while was Harris County Civil Court Judge in Houston, Texas.

• Failed to treat attorneys appearing before him with patience, dignity, and courtesy
• Failed to require and maintain order and decorum in proceedings before him
• Failed to comply with the law
• Failed to maintain professional competence in the law with respect to awards of attorney’s fees (dimwit)
• Failed to to accord a defendant the right to be heard according to law (aka, due process)
• Lent the prestige of judicial office to advance his private interests
• Exhibited and/or manifested bias or prejudice towards certain litigants and attorneys, including on the basis of race, sex, and/or socioeconomic status
• Made appointments in violation of the state’s nepotism statute

Rather than wait for a ruling from the Texas Supreme Court that would likely have resulted in him being removed from office, George did what any coward would do under the circumstances, he resigned.

And lastly, because Judicial Misfits in Texas are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, George was never criminally prosecuted for violating the Texas nepotism laws
