Judge Edwin Clontz of Candler, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina presented Edwin Clontz with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law.

The North Carolina Judicial Standards Commission found Eddie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct brining judicial office into disrepute
  • Improperly held a probable-cause hearing without a defendant’s court-appointed counsel present
  • Failed to conduct himself in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
  • Respondent improperly ordered an attorney into custody
  • Demanded information subject to the attorney-client privilege
  • Failed to accord litigants appearing before the right to be heard (due process)
  • As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. March 2022), Billy practices his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a 28thDistrict Court Judge in Candler, North Carolina.
