Judge Samuel Goodman of Phoenix, AZ; ethical troll

The Arizona Commission on Judicial Conduct found Sammy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to abide by administrative orders regarding the use of face coverings in court facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic (Up yours, said Sammy!)
  • Refused to regularly review his court emails
  • Repeatedly failed to wear a face covering when interacting with the public and staff in court facilities as required by administrative orders issued by the Arizona Supreme Court and the Maricopa County Superior Court in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • the judge’s failure
  • Sammy’s conduct regarding his refusal to wear a mask caused some court personnel to refuse to enter his courtroom and led to distress among court employees
  • Sammy persisted in refusing to wear a mask despite counseling and admonitions by two presiding judges (Screw you, said Sammy!)
  • Sammy also failed to require individuals in his courtroom to abide by administrative orders regarding the use of face coverings
  • Refusal to comply with order to limit his work to the courtroom or office led to order banning him from the courthouse entirely
  • Failed in his obligation to cooperate with other judges and court officials in the administration of court business

As we speak (ca. February 2022), Ray practices his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a Maricopa County Justice Court of the Peace in Phoenix, Arizona.
