Former Judge Thomas Scattergood of Burlington, NJ; misogynist

The state of New Jersey presented Thomas J. Scattergood with a law license after in 1971 after he graduated from Seton Hall University Law School.

The New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct found Tommy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was sitting as Muncipal Court Judge for the city of Burlington.

  • Failed to observe high standards of conduct so that the integrity and independence of the Judiciary may be preserved
  • Failed to respect and comply with the law (scofflaw)
  • Failed to avoid the appearance of impropriety
  • Failed to act in a manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
  • Failed to maintain professional competence in the law (dimwit)
  • Failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous to all those with whom he dealt with in his official judicial capacity
  • Failed to disqualify himself from a matter when disqualification was required
  • Arbitrarily confiscated a litigant’s cell phone and sanctioned him $50 for its return without due regard for explanation or reasons for said exercise of authority and constituted a lack of judicial temperament

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Tommy by reprimanding him permanently barred him from holding future judicial office.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Tommy fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.scattergoodlaw.com. Apparently, he chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. January 2022), Tommy practices his so-called brand of law with The Scattergood Law Firm LLC at 331 High Street in Burlington, New Jersey.
