Former Judge James Convery of Newark, NJ; ethical misfit

 

The state of New Jersey presented James B. Convery with a law license after in 1969 after he graduated from Seton Hall University Law School.

 

The New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was sitting as a Chancery Division Superior Court Judge, Family Part, Essex Vicinage.

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct the brought his judicial office into disrepute
  • Failed to observe high standards of conduct so that the integrity and independence of the Judiciary may be preserved
  • Created appearance of racial bias
  • Failed to respect the law (scofflaw)
  • Failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous to all those with whom he dealt with in his official judicial capacity
  • Failed to maintain order and decorum in judicial proceedings
  • Failed to be impartial and to not discriminate because of race, color, religion, aga, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, language, marital status, socioeconomic status, or disability

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

As we speak (ca. March 2022), Tommy practices his so-called brand of law at 212 Washington Street in Newark, New Jersey.
