Attorney Addie Burks of Memphis, TN; slacker, repeat offender

The state of Tennessee unfortunately presented Addie Marie Burks with a law license in 1986 after she graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law.

The Board of Professional Responsibility found ddie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Failed to provide competent representation (idiot)
• Failed to appear for hearing on client’s behalf
• Failure to appear at hearing on default judgement led to a final judgment being entered against her client for $40,000.
• Failed to act with candor when dealing with tribunal

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Addie by gifting her with a complimentary censure.

• Failed to safeguard client funds
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Delivered all settlement funds to client instead of first resolving existing medical liens
• Failed to provide client with written contingent fee agreement
• Commingled client funds with personal funds
• Failed to distribute funds to medical provider for over two years

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Addie by gifting her with a complimentary censure.
