Solicitor Justin McMullen of Tasmania; ethical goblin

The Law Society presented Justin Patrick McMullen with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from the University of Tasmania School of Law.

The Legal Profession Board of Tasmania found Justin guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in professional misconduct
  • Failed to advise client he was unable to progress client’s matter in reasonable time
  • Failed to expedite client litigation
  • Failed to comply with client request to refund $500 filing fee held in trust and relevant documents so that the client could progress her matter with a new lawyer (Up yours, said Justin!)
  • Conduct fell short of standard of competence (dimwit)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to respond to client request for progress reports

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Legal Profession Board punished Justin by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and ordered that he pay restitution of $500.72 to his client (victim).

As we speak (ca. August 2021), Justin practices his so-called brand of law at 2 Bayfield Street in Rosny Park, Tasmania.
