Judge Thomas J. Quirk of Lake Charles, LA; religious nutcase
The state of Louisiana provided Thomas J. Quirk with a law license in 1969 after he graduated from Louisiana State University Law School.
The Judicial Commission of Louisiana found Judge Quirk guilty of the following misconduct.
The Judicial Commission ruled that Quirk was guilty of gross misconduct and recommended to the Supreme Court that he be suspended from the bench without pay for one-year.
When the case reached the Supreme Court they had the chutzpah to claim that sentencing defendants to attend church didn’t violate the separation of powers act or the 1st Amendment regarding separation of church and state. They claimed that Quirk merely made erroneous rulings that could be appealed and that doing it over 1,200 times didn’t constitute a pattern of misconduct. Clearly these buffoons missed their collective calling as standup comedians.
The cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Tommy by dismissing all of the charges against him. An unreliable source indicated that the Court provided Tommy with a gold encrusted Bible.
This is just further proof as to why most Louisianans have total contempt for the manner in which Judicial Misfits are disciplined.
