The state of Iowa provided Richard Dillon Crotty with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from Drake University School of Law.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation found Dick guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which related to his contract with the State Public Defender.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

• Engaged in multiple ethical rule violations in connection with an estate and a workers’ compensation matter
• Violated rules pertaining to probate fees
• Misrepresented a material fact
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Engaged in the illegal practice of law while license suspended
• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to withdraw representation when required to do so
