T. Michael Barrett of Elm Grove, WI; firearm silencer felon

The state of Wisconsin presented T. Michael Barrett with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from Northern Illinois University School of Law.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) found Mikey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Purchased semiautomatic .22 caliber handgun with an attached silencer from M.B., a confidential informant working with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
• M.B. had a series of recorded phone conversations with Barrett regarding the sale of two firearms, one of which had an attached silencer
• During phone calls with MB, Mikey acknowledged the illegality of the silencer, but agreed to meet M.B. in the parking lot of a local shopping mall to look at the firearms
• Found guilty by a jury and sentence to five months in the House of Correction

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Mikey practices his brand of law in Elm Grove, Wisconsin.
