Attorney John Steckel of Rock Island, IL; ethical ogre

The state of Illinoispresented John George Steckel with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law.

The Illinois Registration and Disciplinary Commission found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Neglected the family law matters of three clients
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Did not return the unearned portions of two clients’ security retainers after they discharged him (cheater) 
• Did not return client records after being terminated
• Lied to one client that the law required the client to pay for a copy of his records before they could be returned to the client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his license.

As we speak (ca. April 2021), Johnny practices his brand of law with Steckel Law at 2100 18^th Avenue in Rock Island, Illinois.
