Michael St. George of Tempe, AZ; convicted thief
The state of Arizona presented Michael E. St. George with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from Arizona State University School of Law.
The Arizona State Bar found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was the presiding judge of the Temp Municipal Court.
-
Failed to investigate or recognize he was being used by Stephen Mirretti and Steve Papp to defraud the Tempe Municipal Court out of more than $27,000
-
Mirretti contacted Mikey and told him he would be doing part-time magistrate work for municipalities other than Temp
-
Mirrett went on to tell Mikey he was to be paid by an entity named Tend Inc. and asked Mikey if he would be willing to set up a system under which Mikey would accept Tends’ payments to Mirrett
-
Mirretti told Mikey he needed a system to provide documentation and verification in the event of an audit
-
Mikey agreed to set up the system and they both agreed that Mikey would be paid his hourly rate for his time spent in creating and handling the system
-
Attorney General informed Mikey he would be charged with 13 instances of money laundering, a class 3 felony
-
Mikey subsequently pled guilty to one count of theft
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary censure and assessed ethics investigative costs of $1,244.21.
As we speak (ca. April 2021), Mikey practices his brand of law at 440 East Southern Avenue in Tempe, Arizona.
