Solicitor Declan McCourt of Ireland; ethical troll

The Law Society of Ireland provided Declan McCourt with a solicitor’s license in 1979 after he graduated from Queen’s University School of Law in Belfast.

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Declan guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed up to the date of the swearing of his affidavit to comply with an undertaking
  • Failed without reasonable cause to comply with a notice served on him by ethics investigators (Screw you, said Declan!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Declan by gifting him with a complimentary censure and a fine of €10,000.00.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Declan practices his brand of law with McCourt & Company at Apollo’s Wings, Defenders’ Row, Dundalk, Louth, Ireland.
