Attorney Avery Appelman of St. Louis Park, MN; ethical goblin

The state of Minnesota presented Avery Lorin Ethan Appelman with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from Syracuse University School of Law.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation found Avery guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to maintain proper trust account book and records
  • Negligently misappropriated [stole] client funds
  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Shared confidential client information with a non-employee absent the client’s informed consent
  • Failed to deposit advance fees into trust account
  • Failed to advise client of status of matter
  • Failed to supervise non-lawyer staff relating to the handling of client funds
  • Shared fees with lawyers not in his firm without signed client agreement

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2021), Avery practices his brand of law with the Appelman Law Firm at 4501 Minnetonka Blvd in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
