Justice of the Peace Eric Murphy of England; ethical troll

The Law Society presented Eric Murphy with a Barristers license in 1977 after she graduated from Lancaster University School of Law. 

The Bar Standards Board found Eric guilty of the following misconduct.

• Made inappropriate comments to a fellow magistrate while in the retiring room
• While sitting as one of three justices hearing a matter, Eric was seen to have had his eyes closed during part of a
• Hearing
• Eric’s sleeping on the job which undermining the reputation of the magistracy
• Conduct fell below that expected of a judicial officer

As one would suspect, this was not Eric’s First bite at the Judicial Misfit Tree. He previously received complimentary informal advice for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, The Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice punished Eric by again gifting him with a complimentary formal advice.

As we speak (ca. April 2021), Melanie continues to sit as a District Court Judge London, United Kingdom.
