Judge Robert Schmidt of Troy, NY; ethical goblin

The state of New York provided Robert H. Schmidt with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from George University School of Law.

The New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Bobby guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to maintain the dignity appropriate to judicial office
  • Failed to act in a manner consistent with the impartiality, integrity, and independence of the judiciary
  • Engaged in inappropriate political activity by posting items to his personal Facebook page, which were visible to the public
  • Made disrespectful and undignified comments about laws he would be sworn to uphold as a sitting judge
  • Propounded asinine conspiracy theories
  • Improperly endorsed a candidate for the Brunswick Town Council

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Commission punished Bobby by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. January 2021), Bobby continues to practice his brand of jurisprudence as a Justice of the Brunswick Town Court, Rensselaer County in Troy, New York.
