Trump Attorney Marc Kasowitz: Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield Comic” Award Winner

The state of Washington presented Marc Kasowitz with a law license in 2019 after he graduated from the Yale University School of Law.

Marc has been associated on and off in representing Donald “Trumporleone” Trump. In May 2017, The Great Leader hired Marc to represent him personally in connection with investigations into the role of Trump's presidential campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections.

FYI: In addition to representing The Great Leader regarding his and his comrade’s connections to Russia, Marc also represented several Russian clients with close ties to Vladimir Putin.

In a lame attempt at levity, Marc recently threatened to sue The Lincoln Project over a pair of attack ads aimed against Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner on billboards in Times Square.

Subsequently, Mark sent a letter to Lincoln Project attorney Matthew Sanderson wherein Marc laughingly demanded that the “false, malicious and defamatory” ads be removed or “we will sue you for what will doubtless be enormous compensatory (actual) and punitive damages.

Apparently, when Marc attended law school at Yale, it did not offer classes dealing with defamation or slander. Furthermore, Yale must not have pointed out to its students the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case, New York Times Co. V. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964) that specifically deals with defamation suits involving public officials.

It may well be the Marc the Comic does not even know that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are public officials. Had he taken the time to ask The Great Leader, I am sure he would have told him that Jared and Ivanka are senior White House advisors.

In response to Marc’s comedic letter threatening to sue The Lincoln Project, attorney Sanderson properly and respectfully responded as follows.

  • “The Lincoln Project will not be intimidated by such empty bluster.”
  • “Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump are public officials.”
  • “Your clients are no longer Upper East Side socialites, able to sue at the slightest offense to their personal sensitivities.”
  • “They have been public officials since President Trump, in a gross act of nepotism, awarded Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump senior White House positions in 2017.”

Mr. Sanderson continued with his written spanking of Marc the Comic by saying:

  • “Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump in these high-level White House offices has been disastrous for Americans everywhere, but it is now also devastating to the prospects of your would-be lawsuit.”
  • “The Lincoln Project would welcome the opportunity to further establish the truthfulness of its Time Square billboards through litigation and discovery, so sue if you must.”
  • “The billboards are not causing Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump’s standing with the public to plummet."

It is painfully clear that Marc the Comic will not file any lawsuit against The Lincoln Project because to do so would or could lead to the trial court imposing sanctions against him for engaging in frivolous conduct. Those sanctions would of course include significant attorney fees and costs.

As we speak (ca. October 2020), Marc the Comic practices his brand of law and comedy with Kasowitz Benson Torres at 1633 Broadway in New York, New York.
