Attorney Sumit Ahuja of British Columbia; ethical gnome

The Law Society of British Columbia presented Sumit Ahuja with a law license in 2011 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia School of Law.

The British Columbia Law Society Disciplinary Counsel found Sumit guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to appear at court-schedule hearing on client’s behalf
• Improperly handled funds from ten clients including
• Failed to comply with his accounting and record-keeping obligations
• Used client funds to pay personal expenses
• Failed to maintain any record of receipt of client funds
• Failed to issue receipt to client upon payment of fees
• Failed to deposit client funds into trust account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society punished Sumit by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Sumit fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.originlaw.ca.com. Apparently, Louie chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.
