Attorney James A. Arneson of Roseburg, OR; ethical leprechaun ![]()
The state of Oregon provided James A. Arneson with a law license in 1977.
A disciplinary panel found James guilty of the following misconduct:
Arneson was involved in representing a client who was involved in an acrimonious dispute with another person. During this time, Jimmy received funds, a portion of which was the lawful property of the third party that was not his client but who was involved in the dispute. Jimmy was required to deposit those funds into a trust account for future disbursement when the conflict between his client and the third party was resolved; however he failed to do so.
The client paid Jimmy nearly $2,000 in fees to resolve the conflict; however, the disciplinary panel concluded that he didn’t earn the entire amount. The client’s demand upon Jimmy for a refund was ignored.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. May 2012) James practices at 318 Southeast Jackson Street in Roseburg, Oregon which is
On his self-serving website at www.arnesongroup.com, Jimmy makes no mention of the fact that he was previously sanction for the misconduct aforementioned. I suppose to do so would only limit Jimmy’s future victim pool, which would make it difficult for him to earn a dishonest living as an attorney.
