Attorney Michael Studtmann of Wichita, KS; ethical ogre

The state of Kansas presented Michael J. Studtmann with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Washburn University School of Law.

The Kansas Disciplinary Board found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Charged and/or attempted to collect an unreasonable fee
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Improperly limited scope of the client representation without obtaining client’s written consent if the limitation is reasonable under
  • Improperly accepted compensation for representation of client from one other than client
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to protect a client’s interests upon termination

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Kansas Supreme Court punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Mikey failed to disclose the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.studtmannlaw.com. Apparently, he decided to conceal said relevant facts from prospective clients to prevent limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. October 2020), Mikey practices his brand of law with the Law Offices of Michael James Studtmann PA at 6235 West Kellogg Drive in Wichita, Kansas.
