Attorney Cole Chase of Klamath Falls, OR: convicted of menacing with a gun

The state of Oregon presented Cole Chase with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law.

The Disciplinary Counsel found Cole guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Involved in verbal altercation while drinking at a bar with Brad Zimmer
  • Outside the bar, the conflict escalated to the point that Cole drew his semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at Zimmer
  • Cole then advanced on Zimmer, grabbed him, and pressed him against a wall, pressing the gun into his head, causing a cut behind his ear
  • After police arrived at the bar, Cole surrendered his gun by placing t in the bed of a pickup and stepping away
  • A grand jury returned an eight-count indictment that included two counts of unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm, menacing, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, and two counts of pointing a firearm at another
  • Cole pled no contest [guilty in effect] to two counts of unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm and two counts of menacing

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Cole by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Cole is employed as a Klamath County Deputy District Attorney in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
