Judge Debra Gunkel of Springfield, CO; repeat drunken convict

The state of Colorado presented Debra Gunkel with a law license in 1994 after she graduated from Southwestern University School of Law. Debbie also received a license to practice in California in 1990.

• Pled guilty to violating the terms of her probation in a 2018 DUI case by committing another DUI offense in Kansas on Aug. 17, 2019
• Arrested by Prowers County Sheriff for driving under the influence (DUI), second offense
• Pled guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) and received a complimentary deferred sentence

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Debbie’s First bite at the Attorney/Judicial Misfit Apple Tree. She previously received two (2) suspensions of her law license by order of the California State Bar Court for failing to comply with Mandatory Continuing Legal Education requirements and failing to pay her Annual Bar Fees.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Debbie by gifting he with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Debbie continues to sit as a Baca County Judge (when sober) in Springfield, Colorado.

Additionally, to supplement her judicial salary, Debbie practices her brand of law with the Gunkel Law Office at 30551 County Road 19 in Springfield, Colorado.
