Judge Sherri Honer of Santa Ana, CA; incompetent boob

The state of California provided presented Sherrie Louise Honer with a law license in 1996 after she graduated from Western State University School of Law.

FYI: Western State is ranked as the 168th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools. 

FYI: Former Gov. Jerry Brown was duped into appointing Sherri as a Orange County Superior Court judge in 2013. Sherri didn’t receive the appointment because she was the most qualified attorney in the greater Orange County area. She received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In one matter, Judge Honer was assigned to preside over a landlord case involving an unlawful detainer action wherein the tenants agreed to have judgment entered against them for $28,970 in past due rent, attorney fees and costs unless they moved out by 3 p.m. on a specified date. However, they moved out shortly after the specified date.

In her infinite incompetence and ignorance, Judge Honer granted judgment in favor of the landlord and against the tenants for $28,970 for moving out several days after the agreed date.

Subsequently, the tenants appealed Judge Honer’s ignorant ruling to the Court of Appeal. In reversing the asinine order, the Court of Appeal stated in its ruling as follows.

• “A payment of $28,970 as a penalty for moving out a short time after the agreed-upon hour is unreasonable.”
• “Nothing in the record shows the parties made any effort to reasonably anticipate the amount of damages that might flow from the tenants breach of the stipulation.”
• “And we see no meaningful relationship between the $28,970 judgment and the tenants’ failure to move out by 3:00 p.m.”

The Appellate Court went on to state:

• “The stipulation in the present case recites that a money judgment be granted in favor [of] plaintiff(s) based on “$27,170.00 Rent & Damages, $1,200 Attorney fees, $600.00 Costs.”
• “There was no express admission by the tenants in the stipulation that they owed any unpaid rent.”
• “Nor was the $27,170 in unpaid rent set forth in the stipulation a tacit admission by tenant that they owed this amount.” “Instead, it was provided to show how the $28,970 judgment was calculated.”
• “That the amount of unpaid rent in the stipulation matches the amount alleged in the complaint is unconvincing by itself.”

It goes without saying that Judge Honer doesn’t much give a damn when she’s overturned (rebuked in truth) by the appellate court since she is well aware that no California judge has ever been tossed off the bench for being an incompetent boob. In addition, she isn’t concerned with the cost to the taxpayers of having his asinine ruling overturned.

As we speak (ca. August 2020), Sherri continues to sit as an Orange County Superior Court judge in San Diego, California.
