Attorney James Smith of Biddeford, ME; ethical troll

The state of Maine presented James B. Smith with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from Boston College School of Law.

The Maine Board of Bar Overseers found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide proper representation to a client
  • Failed to conduct himself properly in dealing a client with diminished capacity (91-years-old)
  • Improperly allowed client’s daughter to be present during a meeting with the client
  • Failed to employ reasonable skill and care or use his best judgment in the handling of client transaction
  • Failed to recognize or appreciate client diminished mental capacity

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maine Board of Overseers punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Jimmy practices in Biddeford, Maine.
