Attorney Peter Caroff of Pittsburgh, PA; ethical troll
The state of Pennsylvania provided Peter Jude Caroff with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from Temple University School of Law.
The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Pete guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.
-
Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
-
Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Pete!)
-
Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client interests upon termination
-
Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
-
Failed to deposit all client paid fees into trust account until earned
-
Failed to promptly deliver funds to persons entitled to receive them
-
Failed to maintain complete records of the receipt, maintenance and disposition of client funds for a period of five years after termination of the client-law relationship
-
Commingled client funds with personal funds
-
Failed to communicate basis or rate of his fee to client
-
Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme punished Pete by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. October 2020), Pete practices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
