Judge Steven Brister of Jersey City, NJ; ethical troll

The state of New Jersey provided Steven Brister with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Howard University School of Law.

The Supreme Court of New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Referred to women and the way men should treat them was inappropriate, disparaging to women and had the potential to create the appearance of a gender bias
  • Failed to observe high standards of conduct
  • Abused the prestige of his judicial office for personal gain
  • Failed to uphold the integrity of the judiciary
  • Failed to avoid impropriety or the appearance of impropriety
  • Failed to act in manner that promotes public confidence in the judiciary
  • Failed to act with integrity and impartiality
  • Failed to decide cases according to the law and facts
  • Failed to be patient, dignified and courteous to all those with whom he dealt with in his official judicial capacity
  • Failed to act impartially and not discriminate because of race, creed, color, sex, gender identity or expression, religion/religious practices or observances, national origin/nationality, ancestry, language, ethnicity, disability or perceived disability, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, status as a veteran or disabled veteran of, or liability for service in, the Armed Forces of the United States, age, affectional or sexual orientation, marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, socioeconomic status or political affiliation
  • Used words that manifested bias or prejudice,
  • Engaged in harassment, including but not limited to bias, prejudice, or harassment

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Stevie by the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

As we speak (ca. July 2020), Stevie continues to be employed as a part time East Orange Municipal Court Judge and acting Newark Municipal Court Judge.

And lastly, to supplement his judicial income, Stevie practices his so-called brand of law with the Freeman Law Center LLC at 26 Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey.
