Magistrate Judge Janine Varner of Wheeling, WV; ethical goblin

The Judicial Investigation Commission found Judge Varner guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Did not have high school diploma and did not meet West Virginia law requiring same
• Improperly indicated she had completed high school on personnel from when in fact she had not done so
• Failed to comply with the law
• When Janine failed to produce a diploma or equivalent, Judicial Disciplinary Counsel filed motion with Court seeking suspension without pay, which was granted
• After passing GED test, Janine was reappointed as Magistrate
• Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Investigation Commission punished Janine by gifting her with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. July 2020), Janine continues to sit as an Ohio County Magistrate Judge in Wheeling, West Virginia.
