Attorney Patricia Cookson of Aiea, HI; ethical goblin

The state of Hawaii presented Patricia Lynn Cookson with a law license in 2011 after she graduated from Hamline University of School of Law.

Disciplinary Counsel found Patty guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Violated valid court order governing visitation rights involving her client
• Patty had no authority to advise her client in a course of action that resulted in her client retaining the child in violation of court order
• Misconduct injured client’s child, the mother, as well as reputation of legal profession

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hawaii Supreme Court punished Patty by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand 90-day suspension of her law license.
