Attorney Steven Terry of Mobile, AL; ethical ogre

The state of Alabama presented Steven Lamar Terry with a law license in 2005 after she graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law.

The Alabama State Bar Association found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Violated or attempted to violate rules of conduct, knowingly assisted, or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
• Engaged in conduct that adversely reflects on his fitness to practice law
• Engaged in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Failed to provide competent representation
• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to timely notify his client of the final order issued in her matter and, as a result, the client lost approximately 18 days to prepare either
• her appeal or motion to alter, amend or vacate
• Failed to attend hearing on client’s behalf
• Failed to file required motion to withdraw
• Failed to file various pleadings by the deadlines established by the court forcing his client to file them on her own and as a result, the court revoked the client’s appointment as administratrix and joined the surety into the proceedings
• Surety filed a petition of removal of estate from probate court due to Stevie’s failure to properly administer the estate and the surety received a judgment against the client for fees and expenses
• In an employment discrimination matter, Stevie failed to file a response to the employer’s motion to dismiss and the client’s case was dismissed

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Stevie practices at 1409 Government Street in Mobile, Alabama.
