Solicitor John McKenna of Dublin, Ireland; lying loser

The Law Society of Ireland presented John McKenna with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from Queen’s University School of Law.

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to reply to multiple correspondence from his client about the purchase of property
  • Failed to reply to multiple correspondence from his client’s new solicitor about the above purchase
  • Failed to register his client as owner of the property and failed to disclose to him and his new solicitor that he had lost the title documents to the property
  • Failed to account to his client for interest accrued on monies held by him on behalf of his client
  • Further seriously prejudiced his client in failing to cooperate with the efforts of his client’s new solicitor to register his former client’s title to the property
  • Failed to comply with a direction of the Registrar’s Committee that he hand his client’s file over to his new solicitor (Up yours, said Johnny!)
  • Failed to reply to correspondence and telephone calls from the society about the matter
  • Misled the Registrar’s Committee when he represented that the purchase deed had been stamped when he knew it had not
  • Misled his client’s new solicitor in a telephone conversation when he represented that the purchase deed had been stamped
  • Further prejudiced his client in exposing him to considerable potential interest penalties arising out of his failure to stamp the purchase deed and his representation that it had been stamped
  • Failed to write to his client’s new solicitor as requested by the Registrar’s Committee to agree a figure for interest
  • Falsely represented to his client’s new solicitor in a letter that he was in the process of reconstructing the title to the property when in fact he was doing nothing to remedy the situation
  • Failed to co-operate with his client’s new solicitor in his efforts to reconstitute the title  (Screw you, said Johnny!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure and imposed a fine of €1,500.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Johnny practices with the firm of Peter J McKenna at 18 Sandymount Green in Dublin, Ireland.
