Attorney Kevin McCants of DC; ethical goblin

The District of Columbia provided Kevin Jesse McCants with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Kevin guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to provide his client with a writing setting forth the basis or rate of the fee or the scope of his representation
• Failed to maintain complete records for five years after termination of the representation
• Failed to refund unearned fee in a timely manner
• Failed to explain the matter reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions
• Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
• Failed to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the DC Court of Appeal punished Margie by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.
