Justice Colleen Suche of Manitoba, CAN; ethical goblin

The state of Law Society provided Colleen Such with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Law.

The Canadian Judicial Council found Justice Suche guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Improperly gave advice on judicial appointments to the federal government and her husband, Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) Jim Carr
  • Submitted the same recommendations as Mr. Carr to fill court vacancies in Manitoba
  • At the time, Mr. Carr was a senior minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when he and Justice Suche separately lobbied for the identical list of lawyers to the Prime Minister’s Office and to then-justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Canadian Judicial Council punished Justice Suche by gifting her with a complimentary admoniton.

As we speak (ca. July 2020), Justice Suche continues to sit as a judge on the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
