Solicitor Amit Patel of Surrey, England; ethical troll

The Law Society presented Amit Kumar Manibhai Patel with a law license in 1988.

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Amit guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Recklessly failed to have sufficient regard for his duties under the Money Laundering Regulations and/or the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s warning notices on money laundering and terrorist financing
  • Engaged in serious professional misconduct
  • Amit was solely responsible for ensuring money laundering regulatory compliance
  • There was a risk of harm to the profession and Amit’s conduct risked his client account being abused for money laundering purposes

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Tribunal punished Amit by gifting him with a complimentary fine of £12,500 (US $15,283.00) and ordered to pay costs of £9,100 (US $11,126.00).

As we speak (ca. August 2020), Amit practices at 3 Thornton Road, Thornton Heath in Surrey, England.
