Attorney Barry G. Albin of Dwight, KS; ethical elf

The state of Kansas presented Barry G. Albin with a law license in 1973.

In the past, Disciplinary Counsel filed misconduct charges against Barry for his dealings with Ms. Kelly Duff, an inmate of the Lansing Correctional Facility. That misconduct involved the following:
  1. Barry sent Kelly a letter at the prison that contained illegal contraband
  2. Barry’s letter to Kelly was of a highly personal nature that could not possibly be categorized as involving legal issues of representation
  3. Barry sent Kelly additional illegal contraband on at least thee occasions
Apparently Barry had a thing for a female prisoner! Appears as though the choices for non-felons in Dwight were a little thin!

Subsequently, Warden McCune sent Barry a letter telling him the prison was aware he had sent contraband to Kelly and that he was being barred from further access to the facility.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Kansas Supreme Court punished Barry by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. April 2012) Barry continues to practice law in Dwight, Kansas, which is about 110 miles northeast of Wichita.
