Magistrate Judge Richard Pithouse of Australia; misogynistic scofflaw

The Judicial Commission of Victoria found Judge Pithouse guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to stop and report a motor vehicle accident involving property damage
• Made inappropriate comments about a victim of family violence during a bail hearing
• Infringed the standards generally expected of a judicial officer
• Brought the office of Magistrate into disrepute
• Failed to respect and observe the law (Screw the law, said Dick!)

Made the following improper statements towards a victim of a crime in relation to a claim for compensation arising out of a serious sexual assault.

• “Intoxication is not an excuse for the purposes of the Tribunal.”
• “The victim put herself in that position.”
• “There is an old adage that you can’t profit from you own malfeasance.”
• Calling sexual assault crisis line following morning was ‘buyer’s remorse.’”

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), Dick continues to sit as a Magistrate Judge in Melbourne, Australia.
