DA Marco Serna of Santa Fe, NM; ethical troll
The state of New Mexico presented Marco Serna with a law license in 2008 after he graduated from St. Mary’s University of School of Law.
FYI: Marco has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past twelve (12) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Santa Fe area was about to offer him a good paying job.
In one matter, three women have filed a wage claim against Marco for violating state and federal wage laws by not paying them overtime rates for extra hours they worked as victims’ advocates. (Phaedra Haywood)
The three ladies said they were paid between $19 and $21 an hour and on a regular basis worked from one to three hours of overtime each week but were only paid at their regular hourly rate rather than the over rate of time and a half as required under the applicable law.
In their lawsuit against Marco, the three women state in part:
“When plaintiffs complained of these illegal pay practices, those practices were not corrected, and instead, Plaintiffs were retaliated against in the form of hostile treatment by managers, belittling language from managers, denial of workplace benefits, and threats of discipline.”
All that remains now is to see how long it takes Marco to man up and admit that he knowingly and intentionally shortchanged these three women by failing to pay them overtime wages for the additional hours they were made to work on his office’s behalf.
And lastly, Marco is now attempting to dupe the voters in the Santa Fe area into electing him as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. If things go well for Marco, he will be able to continue to digest public pork for another 20 or 30 years.
As we speak (ca. May 2020), Marco continues to be employed as the DA in Santa Fe, New Mexico. |
