Attorney Daniel Grindo of Gassaway, WV; ethical ogre

The State of West Virginia provided James Anthony Rivera with a law license in 2002 after he graduated from the University of West Virginia School of Law.

The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Danny guilty of the following misconduct.

• Knowingly provide false information to ethics investigators (Screw you, said Danny!)
• Personally, benefited from his overbilling actions
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
• Misrepresentations were intentional, knowing, fraudulent, deceitful, and for the purpose of misleading
• Lied to ethics investigator that he had self-reported his misconduct
• Charged hourly fees for work he did not perform
• Displayed lack of candor toward a tribunal
• Billed attorney fees for work that was performed by his paralegals
• Submitted overbilling statements to judges who were duped into approving the sham payments  
• On numerous occasions, billed for twenty or twenty-four hours on the same day
• On five dates billed for more than twenty-four hours in a single day

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Danny by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.  

As one would suspect, Danny fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.grindolaw.com. Apparently, Danny decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients so that he would not limit his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. April 2020), Danny practices with The Grindo Law Office at 624 Elk Street in Gassaway, West Virginia.
