Judge Bill Gravell of Georgetown, TX; pompous lawbreaker
Prior to duping the voters in the greater Georgetown area into electing him as Williamson County Judge, Billy duped the Williamson County Court members into appointing him as Williamson County Justice of the Peace. Billy didn’t get the JP appointment because he was the most qualified person in the greater Georgetown area. He got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.
As the Williamson County judge, Billy commands wide authority over County affairs since he is the local government’s executive officer who oversees the county’s budget and the commissioners court.
On March 24, 2020, Billy decreed that anyone who left their homes for non-essential reasons would be sentenced up to six months in jail or pay a fine of $1,000. Billy extended his order to continue through April 30.
In a blatant exercise of hypocrisy, Billy was caught attending his grandson’s birthday party on April 7, the same day that Billy extended his stay home order through the end of April.
Billy was caught when an anonymous Twitter account named “Buddy Falcon” tweeted photos of the judge decked out in firefighter bunker gear at his grandson’s home. An unnamed “very annoyed neighbor” who was “sick of the rules not applying to everybody” had sent the photos, according to Buddy Falcon. (Christina Cabrera)
Criminal defense attorney Robert McCabe advised KXAN-TV in Austin that Billy called him and asked him if he could have photos posted of him on Twitter attending his grandson’s birthday party taken down from; however, McCabe told Billy he lacked the power to do so.
Mr. McCabe went on to describe Billy’s conduct as an “abuse of official capacity” and told KXAN-TV that he would file a criminal complaint with the state’s Commission on Judicial Conduct and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
It is painfully clear that Billy firmly believes that the law does not apply to him. In fact, it is obvious that Billy believes that his “bowel movement is without odor.”
All that remains now is to see what if anything the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Commission on Judicial Conduct do in punishing Billy for knowingly violating the law.
As we speak (ca. April 2020), Billy continues to be employed as the Williamson County judge in Georgetown, Texas.
