Attorney Andrew Thompson of Denver, CO; ethical ogre

The State of Colorado provided Andrew Dollard Thompson with a law license in 2007 after he graduated from the University of Denver School of Law.

Disciplinary Counsel found Andy guilty of the following misconduct.

• Andy ordered by court to (1) file a notice of trial and pretrial status conference, (2) give the defendant, within 21 days, a computation of damages, lost wages,
• and employment records, and (3) provide the home address of the plaintiff that same day
• Andy failed to comply with court order regarding the above 4 matters
• Failed to appear at court-ordered status conference
• Court award attorney fees against Andy’s client for noncompliance with above referenced court order
• Court awarded attorney fees as sanction against Andy and his client on two more occasions regarding failure to disclose required information to opposing counsel
• Court dismissed client’s case for failure to prosecute based on lack of disclosure
• After court dismissal of client case, it awarded additional attorney fees against Andy’s client and admonished the client and Andy
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Knowingly disobeyed obligation under rules of a tribunal (Up yours, said Andy!)
• Failed to expedite client litigation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Andy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Andy.
