Attorney Poponatui (Pona) Sitake of Springville, UT; ethical ogre

The state of Utah presented Poponatui (Pona) Sitake with a law license in 2014 after he graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) School of Law.

In one matter, Pona was forced to resign as a Deputy Utah County prosecutor for engaging in the following misconduct.

• Pona was investigated for allegations he took photos of women in court and then shared them in a group message where men spoke about their looks
• Received free Utah Jazz tickets from defense lawyer who appeared as defense counsel
• Engaged in a conflict of interest by accepting gifts from defense lawyer who appeared on the opposite side of criminal cases that Pona was prosecuting

And lastly, it appears that the enablers for Attorney Misfits at the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court have decided that the conduct set forth above doesn’t qualify as being unethical.

As one would suspect, Pona fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.sitake-wright.com. Apparently, Pona decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients so that he would not limit his future victim pool.
